How can Acupressure Massage help relieve chronic muscle tension?
My blend of Acupressure Massage and Reiki relieves tension by really respecting and working with the body rather than attacking it.
The massage itself uses gentle rocking within the massage, which creates a very non-invasive way to physically relax the muscle. If a ‘knot’ is found, I use reiki to help relax the area first while working around the point of tension along the meridian before going back to the now less defensive point.
Does Acupressure Massage hurt?
No, my aim is never to hurt during the session. Slight discomfort?…maybe, but the goal is to work with the body, not against it.
My thought on this is if you are hurting a muscle, then all you’re doing is getting it to defend itself from attack and so tighten – all this does is put MORE tension into the body long term, not less.
How often should I schedule Acupressure Massage sessions for best results?
Honestly, that depends on you and your body. If you have a chronic, highly acute issue that you’d like to address as quickly as possible, then weekly sessions might be needed for a time (but generally advised against to give your body time to process each session).
If it’s slightly less urgent but the body needs help with momentum, then 2-3 weeks might be best for you.
I personally think that every person should ideally have a session of this kind once a month at least. Many people (myself included) do this, and definitely feel the benefits. And more importantly, feel it when they DON’T!
What are the primary benefits of Reiki for stress reduction?
The primary benefits are that Reiki helps bring you back into you. The jittery feelings, the uneasy feelings, the fears, the pressures; through Reki and support, it helps to let go of all of this and bring clarity to you and your body which allows you to feel in control of yourself again and able to better deal with the world in a peaceful and happy way.
Can Reki sessions help restore balance to my daily life?
Absolutely! In fact, it could help bring balance to the whole of your life. Reiki helps you feel calmer, clearer and more connected to yourself, making it easier to approach life with confidence and perspective. This allows you to make choices that are more aligned to you, which can have a huge impact on your life.
Do I need to believe in Reiki for it to work
Absolutely not. Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive therapy and many people come simply because they want to relax or feel more balanced. No particular belief system is required.
Though keeping an open mind can often lead to a richer experience, and many people are surprised by the experience regardless of what they expected beforehand.
Do I need to undress?
Not at all. All of my sessions are done over the clothes.
What should I wear to a session?
For an Acupressure Massage session, any loose comfortable clothing will do (not too thick). The massage is done over the top of clothing, so the thicker the clothing, the harder it is to intuitively feel around the muscles.
For Reiki, any clothing at all. You’ll be lying down on a couch, and a blanket can even be used if you wish – so it’s entirely up to you as long as it’s comfortable.
Can I receive treatment during pregnancy?
Yes. The usual session would need to be modified slightly, but accommodations can be taken to ensure you and the baby are safe and comfortable during the session (such as no abdominal massage).
What happens during my first session?
During a first session, we start by taking the time to talk about what you’d like to get out of the session, and what may be bothering you within life that you may need help with.
This is followed by the session itself which depends entirely on your preference and want.
We then finish with another chat, talking about how you feel after the session, or anything that came up during the session.
