Reiki (pronounced ‘ray-key’) is a Japanese word that means ‘Universal Life Force Energy’. Eastern traditions have always recognised and worked with this energy as a natural system of healing.

Universal Energy is all around us, it flows through all living things and is vital to our health.

When giving or receiving Reiki, we’re allowing a better flow of this energy to work with the body’s inner wisdom, supporting its natural healing to help restore vitality, harmony and balance, leading to improved health and wellbeing.

There are many different forms of Reiki, all of which utilise this natural energy flow. Usui Reiki was developed by Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist monk and scholar, during the first part of the last century.

How Can Reiki Help Me?

Reiki is holistic, it goes directly to the areas where it’s needed, connecting with all levels of the mind, body and spirit. It’s used both independently and together with other conventional or complementary treatments to help relieve pain, balance the emotions and mentally calm and soothe. This is often experienced as a profound sense of peace and contentment

Having a Reiki session is not only a blissful way of feeling deeply relaxed and a great way to reduce stress, but a treatment can also give rise to clarity of mind and allow insights into problems you may be experiencing. Having a greater understanding of issues which are stopping you from being where you want to be in your life is invaluable and can lead to the release of previously held hurt, anger and fear, leaving you feeling lighter and with a new sense of freedom.

Because Reiki is such a gentle therapy, it can be suitable for everyone, from the newborn to the frail and elderly, during pregnancy and after surgery, regardless of your state of health. You don’t need to have any beliefs when receiving Reiki, so it’s possible for anyone to experience its benefits, including babies and animals.

What Is Involved In A Reiki Treatment?

The Tretament can be done either seated or laying down on a couch where you will then receive Reiki for 1 hour. During the treatment you may experience a variety of things; certain emotions may surface, you may see colours, images or even have stories play out in your mind. All these things are perfectly normal and may have a profound significance for you. When the treatment is finished I will gently bring your awareness back into the room where you may wish to share and discuss some of your experiences, but there is no obligation to do so.

Reiki can be done as either a hands on treatment or hands off treatment.
