Tui Na Acupressure Massage
What is Tui Na Acupressure Massage
My Tui Na Acupressure massage which I have developed over many years (which I often describe as Acupuncture without needles) utilises acupressure points and muscular massage, while incorporating Reiki into all my sessions. This allows me to address the underlying causes of pain and illness as well as the symptoms in a truly holistic way.
I have a strong belief that it is better to work with the body than against it. When confronted with knots and tight muscles, instead of trying to force the body to conform to what I think it should do, I go in with reiki and soften the area or point and only when it no longer feels ”attacked”, then go in with massage. This allows for a very relaxing and effective massage that doesn’t leave you feeling bruised at the end!
Using the reiki in this way allows me to tune into the emotions that may be holding within these points, and using this in combination with TCM theory (Traditional Chinese Medicine), allows me to accurately paint a picture of what has caused the disharmony within the body.
The Benefits Of Tui Na
You may possibly be looking to have Tui Na because you’re experiencing physical problems like headaches or a bad back, or you may be struggling to cope emotionally (as these issues can manifest as physical symptoms) or because you’re feeling overwhelmed with the general stresses of life. You may not even have any specific problems; you might just want to feel really good so you can enjoy life more fully.
As Tui Na supports your body’s innate ability to balance and heal itself, it can be useful in reducing stress and helping to restore your underlying energy. Tensions in the body can release in a supported and comfortable way, so that during or after a session you may feel calm and energised, with increased clarity of mind and an improved sense of well-being.

What’s involved in a treatment?
The first session will consist of a short consultation where we discuss what you wish to get out of the treatment, your previous medical history, any preferences during the treatment and/or tender areas that I should be aware of etc.
After this, there will be the main treatment; this can be done either laying down on a therapy couch, or seated (whichever you prefer). This treatment is done fully clothed, however, it is recommended that you wear suitable clothing; cotton, non slip materials, jumpers (not too thick) etc. Loose jewellery, shoes and coats will also need to be removed.
Depending on your symptoms Tui Na can be a full body massage incorporating the head, arms, shoulders, back, legs and feet in the treatment. The areas that will be massaged will be discussed both before and during the session to ensure you receive the most suitable therapy. No oils or creams are used and there will be regular dialogue during the session to ensure you’re aware of what’s happening, and are happy with all aspects of the treatment.
